We recommend this laptop primarily due to its hybrid storage configuration of 256 GB NVMe M.2 SSD and 1TB HDD. While the 1TB HDD can be used to store media, movies, games, and other large files, the M.2 256GB SSD serves as the operating system.

With regards to the display, this laptop comes equipped with a 15.6-inch Full HD anti-glare display. While the laptop’s display has a maximum brightness of 250 nits, it is recommended to dim the display, particularly at night and in darker environments, to avoid eye strain.

Although the AMD Ryzen 3 3250U CPU in the laptop is not as powerful as the latest Intel Core i3 1115G4 CPU, the performance difference is marginal, the primary advantage of this model is the Hybrid Storage.

With AMD Radeon Vega 6 graphics, you can comfortably play CS: GO (60 fps), GTA V (45 fps), Witcher 3 Wild Hunt (23 fps), Fortnite (28 fps), Apex Legends (39 fps), and FIFA 21 (60 fps) at 720p Low Settings. On this Laptop, you can not play games at medium settings or full HD resolution.

9. AVITA Liber V14 – NS14A8INF561-PAF

If you’re looking for an i5 laptop under 40000, consider Avita Liber, a Hong Kong-based laptop brand.

  • 10th Gen, Core i5-10210u
  • 14-inch FHD Display
  • Integrated Intel UHD Graphics
  • 8 GB DDR4 RAM
  • 512GB Sata SSD
  • USB 3.0 x 2, USB3.0 Type-C x 1
  • Battery life of up to 10 hours
  • Microsoft Office, Windows 10 Home

The AVITA Liber V14 14-inch laptop is notable for its light weight of 1.2 kgs, up to ten hours of battery life, and availability in a variety of colors.

This laptop is powered by an Intel Core i5-10210u CPU from the 10th generation. This processor operates at a base frequency of 1.6 GHz and consumes significantly less power.

It’s natural for people to believe that i5 is superior to i3, but this is not true. Laptops equipped with the 11th generation Core i3 1115G4 processor outperform this Avita Liber model.

Geekbench V5 Single-Core results suggest that the i3 1115G4 is 48% faster than the i5 10210U. Additionally, the 11th Gen i3 1115G4 uses a more advanced fabrication process (10 nm) compared to the 14 nm used in previous generations of CPUs.

Another disadvantage of this laptop is the storage type; while the Avita V14 includes a 512GB SSD, it is a SATA SSD. The other models I mentioned previously include a significantly faster NVMe M.2 SSD.

People frequently complain that their laptop is extremely slow and has short battery life. When purchasing a laptop, it is critical to consider the storage type.

Know more: This article will compare the performance of NVMe M.2 SSDs to SATA SSDs and HDDs.

Nonetheless, you can always upgrade to an NVMe M.2 SSD in place of the SATA SSD.

Positives
  • Compact, light in weight, and easy to carry
  • Excellent Battery Life
  • Keyboard with Backlight
  • The 512 GB SATA SSD is faster than a 1 TB HDD.
Negatives
  • Sata SSDs are slower than M.2 NVMe SSDs.

Points to note before selecting laptop under 40000

Your budget plays a crucial role as we list the points keeping it in mind.

Display

Laptops are available with different display resolutions. You have the Full HD (1920 x 1080p) and the HD Ready (1366 x 768p). It is advisable to go for the 1080p resolution. You can also look at screen features like IPS and anti-glare.

At the same time, you should note that 4K and touchscreen laptops are out of reach of this Rs 40K budget.

The screen size is purely a personal choice. Usually, laptops are available in sizes 14-inches and 15.6-inches. You have the MacBooks with smaller screens, whereas the gaming laptops can have larger screen sizes.

The 14-inches laptops are the best from the portability angle as they are compact and fit into your backpack comfortably. Gaming enthusiasts would love to have a 15.6-inches laptop as it offers them a larger screen to play with. Backlit keyboards are not available in our budget.

Storage Space

Generally, laptops in this budget range offer two types of storage, HDD and SSD (Solid State Drive). When choosing your storage, it is better to opt for SSD because they are faster and reliable than HDDs.

Compared to HDDs, the SSD does not have any movable parts. Besides, they offer ten times faster read speeds and 20 times faster write speeds. Laptops with SSD storage boot faster and display less lag when opening apps or performing multiple tasks.

The drawback of SSDs is that they are expensive than HDDs. However, a laptop in this budget range can include a 256GB SSD comfortably. If you need to store large volumes of data, the 1TB HDD is a better option. Otherwise, it is always better to go for SSD storage. Besides making the laptop light, the SSDs use less power, thereby resulting in extended battery life.

Some of the latest laptops offer hybrid storage, whereby you can opt for a 256GB SSD plus 1TB HDD combo.

You should also note that the NVMe SSD is faster than the SATA SSD. The SATA SSD has a write speed limit of 600MBps, whereas the NVMe SSD can write at a speed of 2000MBps.

Cores/Threads

All these three CPUs are dual-core processors with multi-threading facilities. As they are dual-core CPUs, they have lower computing power than their quad-core counterparts.

Clock Speed

As far as base clock speed is concerned, the 10th gen Intel Core i3 1005G1 seems to have the lowest frequency of 1.2 GHz. Thus, it proves helpful in saving power when performing low-intensity tasks. However, 11th gen Ci3 1115G4 displays better computing abilities because of its higher turbo clock speed of 4.1 GHz. The AMD Ryzen CPU has an average clock speed.

11th gen i3 mobile

The most powerful CPU amongst the three mentioned above is the 11th gen i3 1115G4. The G4 series allows the CPU to support external graphics and get a decent amount of work done by the integrated graphics that come with the GPU.

On the other hand, though the 10th gen G1 CPU supports external graphics, the G1 suffix makes it less efficient than the G4 suffixed CPU.

Cache Memory

The 11th gen i3 1115G4 seems to be the best of the three CPUs reviewed above, with an L3 cache of 6MB. In addition, it has a higher L2 cache memory of 2.5MB. Hence, it makes the 1115G4 a faster CPU than the others.

TDP

TDP is the maximum power the cooling system has to dissipate. Therefore, a CPU with a lower TDP means that it consumes less power. Thus, the AMD Ryzen CPU and the 10th gen Ci3 1005G1 are better in this aspect.

Manufacturing Process

The Intel Core i3 and i5 CPUs come with a 10Nm manufacturing process, better than the 14Nm process of the AMD Ryzen 3 3250U CPU.

RAM Speeds and Support

A laptop should have a minimum memory of at least 8GB DDR4 RAM for better multitasking. It can be challenging to get a higher RAM in this budget. However, you can go for upgradeable RAM to add RAM in the future if necessary.

The 10th gen i3 1005G1 and 11th gen i3 1115G4 support DDR4 RAM. However, the 11th gen processor can support LPDDR4x RAM, a better version.

Graphics

All three CPUs feature integrated graphics, but the Intel G series processors can support external graphics if required. When comparing graphics, the Intel Integrated UHD graphics for the 11th generation CPU are better than that of the 10th generation. The AMD Radeon Vega 3 graphics are equally good.

You cannot expect your CPU in this budget range to support dedicated graphics. However, all the laptops available in our budget come equipped with integrated graphics. It is not possible to have FHD 60fps gaming with Intel Integrated or AMD Radeon Vega 6 graphics.

PC Games popular in 2021

Connectivity Ports

You cannot expect Thunderbolt connectivity options in this budget range. The best you can have are the USB 3.0 ports, USB Type C, and HDMI ports. Usually, all laptops feature a Card Reader. DVD drives and RJ45 ports are out of fashion today. You have better wireless connectivity options available.
